i thought he was using his stock engine? the junk yards around here never ever have the engine in the hondas, unless its a pre-88 honda. :/

A lot of the hondas here are missing engines as well, but there are plenty that still have them in there... Removing a transmission just to get the clutch bolts is one of the last things I wnat to do though. :) |
Damn, my junkyard has everything with everthing, including MAPs and dizzies, :p

I am getting the engine and it comes with a flywheel it is the d15z1, i spoke to they guy and he is not sure if its from an automatic or manual. How could i tell? as far as the transmission, it sounds as though i am going to need a HF L3 tranny and a regular crx L3 transmission wont work right? I dont understand why, look at this diagram i foud that list the different transmission codes and their applications
https://hondaswap.com/reference-mater...n-specs-29132/ Or is the HF transmission just a lot better. because i have access to a regular CRX transmission and it is the L3 just not the HF version. So will the axles work? You said it was different in 88 than any other year, why? Thanks guys, i think i want to go manual for sure, i just need to do all of my hw before i begin buying stuff. Or if you guys could help me find the stuff, or know where i can get it please let me know. |
It's from a manual if it has a flywheel, they didn't make auto z1s in the US, I know that for a fact. The HF is just a lot better, the others won't give you as good mileage.
Check out my tranny write up: www.crxmpg.com/transmission.html |
Well its a japanese engine. So it could be a automatic but i havent personally seen it.
|
you axles will work. the 88 tranny has a different number of splines on the transmissions input shaft than 89-91, i have no idea about after that.
|
if the engine is coming witha flywheel it's a stick.
edit:though i don't think it matters, i imagine the bolts to the crankshaft are exactly the same on an automatic for the torque converter? |
Do any of you know if a shift linkage out of 92-95 civic will work with my 88? I was told that it would work on any d series engine/transmission set?
|
White, no, the bolts are different
8civic8, I don't think it will, different size, though I might be wrong. |
