It's not the rectifier circuit that's causing the...

It's not the rectifier circuit that's causing the issue. If it was the alternator would go out of phase and stop charging or would start outputting AC instead of DC and probably hose electrical stuff...

I used to run those little 3v hobby motors up to 12v and in very short bursts as high as 18v....
