That is mainly because of gears. The Si has very short gearing, like the fit. The VX has some of the tallest gearing that Honda has ever sold (the HF too).

If they changed it to a 6 speed, it is likely that they'd make the gears closer together instead of tacking on another gear (or otherwise providing a wider total range). That seems to be SOP. Either...

Yes, that's normal for a Fit. It's Honda sticking to their reputation of low torque and high RPM.
