This is very interesting to me, it makes me want to do this for my little VX. In fact, with on the way out ball joints I wonder if the wheel bearings have been affected negatively in any way...hmm...

Not sure but depending on the bearing replacement you got...I'd jack the car and spin the other wheel on the same axle to compare. Check all wheels for kicks.

The engine mounts I have are allowing...

Yes, also thought of wheel bearings. I might be in a similar situation, my VX also needs engine mounts probably ball joints(upper and lower)...similar MPG here...been a real pain.

I also have rear...
