Pull the fan off the alternator and unplug it.......... The fan is the only load on the alternator when it isn't charging.

Consider this........ At low power output.... cruise, your engine is sucking a strong vacuum to hold the amount of air it is taking in down, thus holding power and fuel consumption down,...
