Little Wing Duo

2006 Kawasaki EX650 Ninja 650R

Property of 4and2 Added Jan 2014 Location: Alpine, TX

To my pleasant surprise, Little Wing Duo arrived on the evening of Wednesday, 29 January 2014!! I've so enjoyed Little Wing that acquiring a "twin" was a no brainer. Duo was put into commuting service on Monday, 3 February 2014.

On arrival it had only 8,901 miles on the clock and is mostly in like new condition. In the little bit I rode it around the yard, it seemed "friskier" that its twin. Most of the upgrades done on Little Wing will be done on Duo.

To my surprise, Duo has an LED taillight and xenon head-lamps along with brand new Nankang Rodiac tires. We'll see how they compare to the Bridgestones. Sadly, the chain looked mighty dry, but its was lubricated promptly, and will now be lubed frequently.

I plan to alternate the bikes after each tank of fuel is consumed, except when one bike is out of service. NO MORE "RIDIN' WITHDRAWALS!!!"

Today, 19 July 2014, I finally took a photo of the now modified bike at McDonald Observatory which is about 41 (s)miles from home. It was also the day of my now highest MPG of 61.6. That's only .4 MPG less the Little Wing! It seems that the best MPG is when I ride it hard and with a minimum of short-shifting, keepin' the rev counter at 5,000 or higher.

Update: GPS measured round trip is 52.32 miles. Modified sprockets to one tooth over stock (found existing front sprocket was one tooth under stock w/14 teeth) in late July 2015. Immediately increased MPG!!
