With the Honda Beat, it's all about that extremely short gearing. If you could change the gear ratios, you could probably get way better mileage.

The Japanese system for determining FE is 10 times worse than the one the EPA uses (used?). They claimed the Beat was capable of 63 mpg, something I never even came relatively close to!

Keis are fun. Their close ratio transmissions are not that great for highway mileage though! Neat find.
