caulking around headlights keeps in the warm air/better yet keeps out the cold air/allows your car to recycle heat at a higher rate.

look at how well they fit togetheer my sealed arse caulk job(redone last week) has netted me 67 miles on way less gas than i've recalled so far I think im at 44mpg right now, been real humid lately...

you could create the same effect of the K and N...
you could create the same effect of the K and N by making your air intake more direct, I achieved my best results when I restricted my air intake opening maybe 15% with a piece of tape, not saying...
