Moved fuel filter before the fuel pump away from the manifold heat. Installed a new filter, insulated all rubber fuel lines with heat reflective insulation also insulate short length of fuel line below the cab. Installed heat shield in the underside passenger side to keep floor cooler from heat of exhaust pipe nearby. Hoping this will resolve the issue with start-up backfire as it appears to be related to vapor lock.

Purchased a new DUI HEI distributor with spark plug wires. Eventually I will have Saddleback Automotive II install it, but then the truck will no longer be stock. I'll think about it. No rush. If I end up not having it installed I can resell it on eBay.

Bought re-manufactured Holley 1940 carburetor and had it installed by Saddleback Automotive II. The carburetor cost $345.86 from eBay and installation was $52.50. Greatly improved the idle, performance and truck is no longer jerky when accelerating

There is some oil leaking from the vacuum advance can. Not sure why, I noticed it when I saw residue on the oil filter. Maybe there is a small vacuum leak from the advance unit. Cleaned it up and sealed with silicone.

Replaced the spark plugs that were put in when the new engine was installed with 6 new NGK IX Iridium plugs. Also installed plug wire separators.

Leak stopped. Engine is very dry and clean. Checked it thoroughly under the truck.

Installed an air-cleaner to carburetor gasket as it was missing.

Replaced the Glove Box Door Check Cable as the old one broke.

Engine still leaking a little oil. I tightened the valve cover bolts further in the early am when the engine was cold. They were all still loose. Hopefully this will fix the leak

Noticed small leak from engine bell housing underneath the truck. Brought it back to Saddleback Automotive II, they diagnosed a leak from the valve cover. They tightened it and put spacers to make it seal better. No charge.

Had a new battery installed the old one was leaking and not holding charge. Probably was damaged by the paint booth heat when curing the paint.

Had the entire engine replaced by Saddleback Automotive II. Re-manufactured Ford inline 6 300 CID just like the previous engine. Also had a used intake manifold installed as the previous one had a crack. New engine mounts, new oil pressure sensing unit and water temperature sensing unit. The new engine is long-block meaning the water pump and diaphragm are new.
