My first car had 12" wheels. The size of cars now has got ridiculous, such a waste of resources and most of the time they'll have one or two people in. I hate waste.

These wheels look right on that vehicle, Much smaller would look ridiculous.

It could drop down to 20" - 21", have a sensible sidewall, and still look good.

I had 21" on the Q7 and the ride was very quiet and smooth. Anything bigger and you're limiting yourself to tyre choices, and boy will they be expensive. Most tyre shops only have the ability to change up to 21" tyres anyway, so why make life harder?

Yes, to a significant degree with intelligent tire choices.
