Somthing a bit different!
Check out the striking new Citroen C4 Cactus, strange looks, even stranger name! Thought it might interest those hyper milers out there as the diesel averages 91 MPG. The protective air bump body panels create a rugged look, and the interior is a design masterpiece. Love or hate?

I'm not a fan of the interior or exterior looks, but I would drive it if it got 91 mpg!

That looks like a great vehicle for the price. I hope we get some testing here in Fuelly when they come out to see if it can indeed get the mileage they are advertising!

I think the 91 MPG they quote was average, they usually quote "highway" or "extra urban" as it's known in the UK, which are almost impossibly high figures. I think realistically it will still get 70 to 80 MPG with little effort, but time will tell.

Do you have any kind of standard for estimated MPG in Europe like the EPA does here or are the car makers responsible for the MPG figures?
Since I've never been to the UK, do you guys have any long range freeways or highways like we have here in the US, or does the layout of the road system and congestion prevent long range mid to high speed driving?

Yes there is a government controlled test, urban (similar to city) extra urban (similar to highway) and combined, an average of the two. They test emissions too which determine how much road tax you'll pay, so a small diesel like mine is free, but a Cadillac Escalade might cost $800 a year just in road tax. The C02 and N0X emissions are also printed on the registration documents of every car.
It depends which country you travel too in the UK, the UK is very diverse, there are small towns dating back thousands of years, not designed for cars! And yet there are modern cities too. There are lots of "highways" in England, but not so many in Wales where I live (there are very low levels of traffic here, I've never been in a traffic jam in 17 years of living here)
The speed limit on the highways is 70 MPH but most people travel at 80. The speed limit on normal roads is always 60, unless it's a town/city in which case it's 30 MPH.

Wales for the win! Life is too short for traffic jams!

Still not seen one of these bizzare objects in the metal yet, there are a few for sale on the web. Interesting to see one entered the MPG marathon this year too, and got an average of 95 MPG, so pretty decent mileage for a non-hybrid!

Have to say, it looks really mean in this colour combo, really like it. Kind of looks like a mini stealth bomber!
