adding 3&6 month simple moving averages to the graphs would help show trends esp. when noticing seasonal and break-in trends. Ability to have longer time periods may be useful as well.

That's the information that the bar graphs are supposed to give you. You should be able to see some seasonal changes there.

I agree with you on more customizable graphs. We feel a bit limited by the charting software we're using, and we're keeping an eye out for better options.
