Dry Cell 6 Plates

Hi Guys
Have been building dry cells for a few years and recently, first time I built a 6" x 6" 6 plate dry cell. Fitted it yesterday and drove my van for 1/2 an hour and today for another 1/2 hour.
It will not go beyong 10 amps even though I added another teaspoon of koh. The 11 plate dry cell I just removed before fitting the 6 plate cell with the same amount of KOH used, can go up to 18 amps.

Is there something wrong or the 6 plate cell are restricted to only produce up to around 10 amps ?

Any advice would be appreciated.
