Initial Fuel Up

There DOES need to be an Initial Fuel-Up odometer reading when creating a new car record, if you want to use the Odometer reading at each fill-up, as opposed to the trip odometer reading. I always go top off right after I buy a car, and want my calculations to start with that odometer reading.

The only way to do this with Fuelly is to fake the amount of fuel bought at the initial top-off, and that throws off the average spent per tank, and the number of tanks burned.

I created a spreadsheet years ago that has a field for that initial odometer reading. Fuelly needs to add this option when creating a new car record.

Unless Fuelly has changed since I joined up the "Initial Fill" does not use the amount of fuel put in. That only happens on the second top up. The amount of fuel added and the cost is only used for your cost of ownership. Not the mpg.

You're correct - it's not figured into the MPG numbers, but it does affect other numbers, such as "Average Cost Per Fill Up", etc. It shouldn't. I'm just using my spreadsheet, and the Trip Odometer readings here on Fuelly.
