Reduced aggressive riding quite a bit. Avoiding traffic delays and laden with winter gear. Next tank will be riding with more winter gear and expecting the see a drop in MPG. Mostly rode for long stretches of 25-40 miles at a time instead of the quick 16 miles hop to and from work each day. Refueled before low fuel indicator came on. Tire pressure good. Will need to do an oil change soon.

Cold air is making the engine sound better but have been riding a little more aggressively lately. Also wearing bulking clothing hence increased wind resistance. Also taking longer time to warm-up the bike. Could explain the drop in MPG. Average MPH 65-71. RPM range 6.5-7.5k. Gear changes at around 5k. Refueled after riding 20 miles with low fuel warning light on; mostly on the interstate. Rider weight 174lbs approx.

Low MPG can be attributed to many reasons - (1) Recovering for oil overfill - (2) There were quite a few times when I was stuck in rush hour traffic even on the interstate - (3) Averaging 70 MPH on most trips. Have been riding a little aggressively lately. Refueled before gas light came on.

Been riding a little hard. Having some trouble with oil level; seems I am running low on oil even after 3.5 qt. Mostly interstate riding. Refueled before gas light came on. Rider weight approx. 177lbs. Update: Was checking oil while leaned on the side stand. As a result noticed a false low oil marking on the dipstick and refilled oil way above maximum. Drained oil a bit and refilled to midpoint on the dipstick.

Engine oil level was low for majority of the last tank. Also spent close to 20 mins in stop and go traffic at one point. Refueled when low fuel light came on.

Fuel-up after oil change (11,306). Refueled when light came on. Riding with old bulky jacket. Rider weight approx. 182lbs. Low mileage may be because of longer warm-up times as weather is getting colder. Also there were a few occasions where I had to ride the different levels of a parking garage in 2nd gear.

Riding with racing jacket on for a long trip. Most of the last tank was consumed riding freeway/interstate riding. During interstate riding was tucked in flat against the gas tank. Averaged 75mph on most of the interstate ride. Refueled before gas light came on.

Rode with backpack and old Tourmaster touring jacket. Changed to racing jacket for the last 40 miles. A little less drag as a result. Have reduced warm-up and post ride idling quite a bit. Have been turning off bike at stop lights that take a long time to change. Refueled before gas light came on.

Riding with gear on and backup on most trips. Drop in mileage is most likely due to increased drag from the gear. Have been shifting at 5k rpm. Also have been idling the bike on cold starts till temp reaches 150F. Fueled up before gas light came on.

Mostly without riding jacket. Maintaining interstate speeds between 60 to 70 mph. Mostly keeping speeds at below 65mph. Fueled up when low fuel light came on.

Jul 23 2012

Mostly commute to and fro work - interstate riding. While riding on back roads (with only a few traffic stops) maintained steady 35-45 mph in 6th gear. Quick shifts to higher gears at around 5,000 rpm while starting from stops. Refueled when gas light came on.
