Goo Remover

Anyone know a product that will remove the goo that remains after the stick-on molding strip is removed. The big chunks come off faily easy, but a thin film of stickiness remains. i've tried wd-40, alcohol and 409 with little success.

I have some stuff made specifically for removing goo from cars, that I've been intending to use but I just haven't bothered. I think it's this stuff:

Goo Gone Extreme. Mine came in a metal can, I love that stuff and it's one of the only things you can use that won't scuff up your paint.

DO NOT use alcohol or anything like that unless you plan on repainting the car or you just don't care.

wd-40 or pb blaster works on some goo

Ammonia works pretty well on removing old, sticky window tint adhesive. But I'm not sure what it might do to the rubber molding...

The 3M product is made by the people who make the sticky stuff and it does work.
So does Eucalyptus oil but I have no idea where you can find it in the US.
Local ******** / drug store perhaps?

I was wrong. This is the stuff I have:
3M Adhesive and Wax Remover

Adhesive and Wax Remover quickly removes wax, grease, oil and adhesive residue. It will not harm most cured automotive paints and is also suitable for vinyl and glass surfaces.

I tried to use it yesterday. It didn't entirely do the job. I may have to get some Goo Gone. I've got adhesive from door edge protectors that's stuck on my door edges and some that spread itself on the side of the car. Those door edge protectors don't stay on the VW like they do on my truck.

It also had no effect on some hot melt glue that was stuck from my early grille blocking attempts.

I'm thinking a hair dryer and a plastic putty knife might work, or maybe a drill-mounted buffer, if I can't find any Goo Gone.

Goo Gone didn't work for me either on removing the molding adhesive. i just used the side of my thumb and my fingernail. That got most of it. the rest will be removed with a sander when the car is painted.
