New MPG accomplishment

I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but just in case...

84 MPG is impressive.

Re: New MPG accomplishment

Not unheard of with diesels, I saw similar claims at Larzs Andersons meet with bio-diesel station wagon. That is some very high mileage though, got to wonder how they do it . . . Lots of front end magnets?

Re: New MPG accomplishment

That was probably mine. 78 mpg in the 2005 Tour de Sol mileage rallye. I had that car in the Alt Wheels car show that summer.
However, mine was only over a 500 mile course. My personal best single tank distance in that car was just a bit over 1400 miles, mostly accumulated in commuting.
My all time best was 82 mpg, also on B100, but in a sedan I had at that time, and only over the 250 mile course used in the 2003 Tour de Sol.

If I dig a little I have photos if you are interested. The first that I know of showing of the smart car was there that year also and free Segway test rides.

Not sure that would be too efficient now a days, given the number of aluminium and composite bodied cars being built.
Wish I'd thought of that when I used to drive my Citroen Dyane...
