Top 10 most efficient diesels

Useful compilation of the 10 best fuel efficient diesels on sale in the UK, for those who don't have the time to trawl through pages and pages of data on fuelly. Note, all these cars are either large family cars or SUV's, and get MPG from 50 to 56 (UK). These are "tested" or true MPG, not lab test results.

That's an interesting article and some excellent mpg numbers. We don't have a lot of diesel options and none that match the mpg numbers. Here's an article on some, or maybe all, of what's available over here.

Remember, that article quotes miles per UK gallon.

Yes, but compared to a lot of what we have access to they're definitely better even after converting.

Interesting comparison, I didn't realise Jaguar Land Rover offered so many diesels over there. Read an article the other day, the new discovery has some of the lowest NO2 emissions, even lower than small city cars. Tell that to the diesel haters!

I didn't know they did either. They've almost cornered the market.

63.3mpg UK over 26274 miles in 26 months for my Mitsubishi Colt 1.5d 6spd auto/clutchless manual 3 pot. Best tank full was 71.8mpg, It runs 66-69mpg in the relatively warmer/drier months and high 50s in the colder/wetter months. Mixture of inefficiency engine/cold block and wind/tyre resistance on wet roads in winter months I think. 30 mile each way daily commute mix of stop start traffic 25% and open roads 75%, 1 hour journey each way.

Smiliar engine to my old Clio, and unsurprisingly, similar MPG too. Think I averaged about 61 MPG in the time I had it.

50+ mpg Qashqai Tekna 1.5d on average around town. I have got high 60's on long runs mainly A roads. Which I think is quite good for a largeish car

My Clio as averaged 70 mpg UK over the 100,000 miles or so I have owned it,
but I live out in the sticks, it would likely drop quite a bit if I lived in town,
going to run it till it dies, cheapest vehicle I have ever run.
