They did slow me down once I stood on them. I just wasnt ready for them not to work. I will be ready this time.

Power brakes and power steering are useless accessories for small cars. They add weight, cost, and engine drag.

I had an '82 Mercury Lynx (a Ford Escort clone) with neither PS or PB. Even in a parking lot, the car was easy to steer because it was light and had small tires. And with its disc brakes, it didn't need power assist.

That car had 1.6 l engine and a manual tranny and was one of the best I have ever owned. I bought it new, abused the crap out of it for 5 years, and I only got rid of it when the timing belt broke 25K miles after it was scheduled to be replaced. Did I mention that it got 40 mpg highway consistently?

IMHO, small cars don't need PS or PB, but the automakers don't want to sell cars without them solely because of marketing concerns.

i drove a mercury lynx for about 3 hours one day when i worked at the shop...it was hell, i can't think of a worse car i've ever driven or concieved of driving.

it didn't have any issues with braking though,

Just FYI for you EF honda people. The 15/16 MC from old preludes and accords bolt right up to the stock brake booster.

I upgraded to a prelude 15/16 MC in my civic when I put my rear disks and 4040 prop valve in. It made a HUGE difference in pedal feel. The pedal feels soo much better now and the car stops way better.

I didn't have to rebend or flare any of the fittings for the prelude MC, it bolted right up!
