Hello from Mississippi

I've got a Hotrod Camaro SS and I stumbled accross this gassavers.org in search of improving my fuel economy. Already, I will exchange my present cam a 228/230 112lsa with huge lift to a more down to earth 214/220 cam with a 116 +2 LSA custom designed cam to produce both power and fuel economy. Additionally, I have a fidanza aluminum flywheel that will reduce some rotating mass in the drive train. I'm also hoping to use some of your aero tricks to help the ole MPG.

swapping out to different gears will help more than the cam swap. And find some eagle GS-C tires that came stock on the car, they are about the best low rolling resistance tires you can find for the sizes on these cars.

Mine has a 110 degree asa cam, 3000 stall 4spd auto, 2.73 gears and I still get 24mpg. when stock I got 28mpg normally.

Just using the skip shift that came with the car and trying to keep the car smooth and easy should get you over 20-25mpg without much effort as long as the gearing isn't making it rev high on the highway. 1500-1800@65mph is what mine does if I can remember it right.

Thanks Coyote! I already bought the cam and the flywheel...so I'll install them. I still have my 3.42 gears and I will see what kind of improvements I can get before going back to them. But I need to get a base line first.
