Re: Bigger fuel tank for a civic vx ?

I frequently had 500-600 mile tanks in my 95 VX. I had the 10-gallon tank. I had one tank of 680+ miles (77 mpg on the fillup). Spectra Premium makes a 13.5-gallon tank that will fit a VX.

Re: Bigger fuel tank for a civic vx ?

The most I could fit in our 92 VX(canadian made/canadian model VIN), was about 10.5 gallons; while the car's passenger side was lower than the spout at the gas cap. So, level ground 10 gallons seems to be reasonably what this tank is. I have a hard time believe it is 'truly' a 12 gallon tank since it cuts off 2 gallons short. A true 12 wouldn't need 2 gallons of 'top off' near bone-dry. We're not talking about the normal 'top off in stages and potentially flood your EVAP system either).

THANK YOU ADDICT! I was and still am thinking the same thing, that MY 92 VX has 10 gal tank. One I filled it up to top with 8.5 gals while needle was on E so i figured another 1.5 as what was left inside. No way with 12 gal tank i would be on E. That's extra 3.5 which would be 1/3 or 1/4 of tank (depending what u think you have). NO WAY!!!

Sorry Arky. VX have 10 gal tanks so if you're sure you put in 12.xx gal u have custom tank installed by Chris.

Re: Bigger fuel tank for a civic vx ?

Check my gas log. I've put well over 12 gallons in my tank. If Chris put a custom tank on it, that's great. The more gas I can carry, the further I can go!! A couple of extra gallons isn't going to hurt FE.

The tank in Arky's is the factory tank. I can't see any reason you couldn't put the larger tank in any year vx. The chassis are identical for the 92-95 hatchbacks as far as I know.

Re: Bigger fuel tank for a civic vx ?

The US 92 VX has a 11.9 gallon tank. The fuel gauges suck. I have had 4 civics with that tank. They all read empty with about 3 gallons left. The 93-95 VX has a 10-gallon tank. I could overfill mine to 10.2 if it was bone dry.

Addict probably not. I took the pic from best side. My body work and paint needs some work done. Trust me
