Wait a minute, this is your original post :

I would be interested to get input about the Chery A1 that will hit our shores in early 08 under the Dodge banner.
I think that you *implicitly* expected for people to talk about the fuel economy potential of the car, but your inquiry was not specific.

I think the crash tests are very relevant. Crash test compliance has kept alot of possible "mini" European cars out of the US. From what has been posted, the Chery will have to do alot better than it has up until this point.

Also, as you may know, it is extremely normal for a thread to be hijacked. This is very normal Internet stuff .

I am confused. People are posting on the "American" test that it is actually a Russian test. The "Chinese" test seems to be an Egyptian market promotional film.

Anyhoo, even though I think your question was rhetorical, here are the differences I can see :

- Neither test appears to post the speed the cars were going. If the film speed was the same, then the American/Russian car is going faster.

- The American/Russian test appears to be a specific "partial barrier" test. I am not familiar with that test. What is it called?

- The Chinese/Egyptian test is a head-on with a barrier.

- The Chinese/Egyptian test does not allow commentary.

- The poster of the Chinese/Egyptian video has not posted anything else.

I don't think you can compare the tests without more information.

I think that *this* is a better comparison :

Fiat Albea Siena Palio Crash Test EuroNCap
http://youtube.com/watch?v=viHGybTYJJ8

Crash Test Chery Amulet , EuroNCAP, Chinese S*** (aka American testing)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=4Swzbt76wBM

These tests appear to be the same, and you can see the Chery still fails miserably.

It looks to me like the IIHS offset barrier test, usually conducted at 35 mph.
