not even that id avoid the first 3 years of a new car model, new models have TONS of bugs, plus gotta remember all the overworked underpaid factory workers using new tooling and them fine tuning locators for important weld points etc. Adjusting weld robot programs and laser alignment stuff.

Wait. Read the reviews. Then make your decision.
Funny. Seems you own a 1st year Honda and are having pretty good luck with it.

lol.

I agree about waiting on reviews and not buying new. There will be plenty to buy with lower mileage in a year or two. Let someone else take the biggest depreciation hit!

According to a Consumer Reports article, the first year of a new model or generation is when you are more likely to see any problems. There might be a higher chance of them in the second and third years compared to the company's or old model's reliability, but it drops quickly after the first year.

On a related tangent, a poster on another site bought one of the new Explorers. He ordered it versus buying one off the lot, and had a longer wait for it. Supposedly, this was because Ford wanted to iron out the bugs, and let the production crew gain experience before filling customer orders.

Back to the Sonic. Is GM still using dip stickless auto transmissions. The HHR's is and servicing requires a lift or pit to determine the fluid level.

Re: Switching from my VX to a Chevy Sonic?

It varies by model. My 2002 GMC's 4L60E has a dipstick. The GM-sourced 4L30E in my wife's 2000 Isuzu does not.

Tangent: I can understand why Isuzu would use a GM transmission, but what are Honda/Acura and BMW doing using it?
