Bumper Protective Finish?

I managed to nick the rear bumper today loading a push mower and it exposed black plastic. Rather than pay a lot to have it restored to the original, fragile state, I was thinking some more durable coating, like truck bed liner would be better. Is there a DIY version of something like that? Or, failing that, a cheap process one can have done? Thanks. Maybe even those frictive stair tread stickers? I guess might not be wide enough and seams would look awful.

you can buy a DIY roll on bedliner. it is similar to the spray in type but it is rolled on with a roller instead of sprayed in so you don't need stupid expensive equipment.

I think they sell a patch kit to take care of nics and what not. that may be all you need. I would check places like summitracing or jcwhitney. they would probably have it. I'm busy or I would look it up. good luck to you on that.

you could also just use some duplicolor paint to match the paint with the paint there.

I've seen a lot of people add the truck liner stuff to their bumpers, but what might look more attractive is to fix the nick and see if you can find the clear protective stuff that is like a screen protector except for your bumper. I know Suzuki used to offer it as a dealer option but I don't know about KIA.

it is almost like contact paper in a way only clearer (err.. more clear) it is still like a big sticker that goes on.

This stuff? I have a J roller so I should be able to get it to work out. Going to take a picture and Photoshop it to see if a black accent (no pun intended) will look good or lousy. I could always cover it with "flame" or "bullet hole" stickers.

The one black spot would be too isolated. It'd take other areas to tie in in visually. Of course I would be getting 12' of the stuff. Maybe I should see if a local place sells it by the foot.
