Caterham EV Seven

Not yet, but in the works. Your own electric skateboard.

It is actually the opposite of an EV skateboard. The battery is mounted vertically down the length of the car. Where the engine would be, and through the transmission tunnel.

The specs are not particularly impressive for an EV. The price will be the deciding factor.

Sounded like a one and done concept that has no bearing on any potential product.

I don't know. In the UK, under current Government plans, the sale of new cars powered solely by petrol and diesel will be banned from 2030. Hybrid cars which can travel ‘significant’ distances on electric power alone will remain on sale until 2035, when they too will be banned in favour of fully electric cars. The Government has yet to define what qualifies as ‘significant’. So if Caterham want to sell cars in the UK, a huge part of their market, they will have to go full electric.

Was referring to this, "The Caterham EV Seven won’t make it to production in its current form." It's a concept trying out that third party power train. Caterham will need an EV in the future, but we can't draw too much from this car as to how that future car will be.

It's interesting and looks ready to go. It will be interesting to see where they go with it. It looks like a very fun toy for those who can afford toys.
