Goodbye Fiesta

Was shocked to hear ford are axing the fiesta, it's been such a popular choice and best selling car in the UK for several decades running. Although I've never owned one, it's one of those happy familiar faces commonly seen on a daily basis in busy cities or on the open highway. A good all round car that came in many variants from super efficient diesels, to 200+ bhp sporty ST's. I'm sure it will be missed by many...

Never owned one either. never fancied one. My sister-in-law has had two or three and thought they were great.

It was cancelled in the US a few years ago. With the supply issues, and move towards EVs, we'll probably see more ICE models being cancelled as the manufacturers consolidate their line ups to reduce costs.

Making an EV on an ICE platform at this point is no longer worth the cost savings against the competition. Toyota has just realized that. Ford could end up using the Fiesta name on an EV platform model, but it sounds like that a subcompact(is that A Class there) EV isn't planned in the near term.

Fiesta is a B segment car, in other words, there are smaller cars on offer, even though the fiesta is probably considered a small car in the states. I'd class it as a small-ish car, or medium sized small car.

It's too small for me but I bet the ST is a fun car to drive. That might be a good "extra" car to drive whenever the mood struck. The Focus ST would be closer to "sized right" for an only vehicle. I think our last years were 2018 for Focus and 2019 for Fiesta.
