The LEZ in Edinburgh doesn't involve charges. However, if your car doesn't meet the criteria (Euro 4 for petrol, Euro 6 for diesel and Euro VI for buses and HGVs) there is a £60 fine (50% if you pay within £14 days)and a surcharge if you enter again within 90 days.
Can't be worse than the London ultra low emission zone. Honestly don't know how people are expected or an afford to pay an extra £15 a day on top of petrol/parking etc just to get into central London. Crazy world. Glad I live rural.
The point is to make transit more appealing. Just moving to cleaner cars doesn't address the issues from congestion.
