We don't see many of the large Japanese engine models here unless imported, so I guess the reliable reputation is stronger here. 150 hp from a 3.0L V6, can't quite get my head around that. How pathetic. Sounds like the Japanese should stick to their smaller, higher performance engines that they've become famous for over recent years.
It was back in the mid '80s. The Ford Vulcan that came out around then was producing 130hp to 153hp through its lifetime. The 5.7L in a friend's Trans Am from then was 275hp.
During the 80's my weak-*** Acura Integra 4-cylinder was replaced by a Supra Turbo.
Drove that for about 12 years with few issues. The car was heavy - which affected
acceleration. But it was dependable and - at 3500 pounds - a very secure ride.
