If you buy a refrigerator, be sure it's a CEE Tier 3 refrigerator.. (30%+ more efficient than federal standard). However if you can source yourself a refrigerator made in 2005 for like $200, I'd take that instead if you're trying to be cheap. Don't pickup/use a refrigerator that is more than 10 years old since the costs to run it will exceed any value you get out of it.
