It's deja vu all over again. In 2008, the EPA adjusted thier figures lower because people were complaining that the numbers were unrealistic. But believe it of not, 2008 wasn't the first time that happened. In 1985, under similar pressure from the public, the EPA lowered the Highway figures by 22% and the city figures by 10%. So the 67MPG 1984 CRX was reduced to 54MPG in 1985. The 84 is hard to come by, but a 88-91 will get better FE and will be much more reliable.
it's still a 1.3L engine in a 1,800 pound car, well, really the 1.3L engine was higher reving then the 1.5, but it's still less displacment, I recently passed up a regular 1987 hatchback civic with the 1.3, mostly because they were asking $2,400 for it.
