1992 Civic VX for sale

1992 Civic VX

$6500

Bought from the executor of my deceased friend’s estate. He passed away May 2021. He purchased the vehicle new at the age of 44 in the summer of 1992. He also had a 1940 Packard, a 1975 450SL, and a 2017 Prius. I am the 2nd owner.

It is an unmodified original car. Some parts have been replaced as part of routine maintenance.

154k original miles.

Clean title.

Starts up immediately hot or cold, runs/drives great and has good power. Tracks and brakes straight. Idles at approximately 700 rpm with engine warm, 1400 rpm cold.

No fluid leaks. Does not use oil between oil changes.

Last year, driving from El Paso to Phoenix he got 54 mpg. He always drove for maximum fuel economy and tried to keep it in lean burn mode. He told me that he never ran the engine near redline. He drove carefully and gently. The wheels, for example, don’t have curb rash.

The original tire size is 165/70/R13. Although still available, they are getting harder to source. Currently 175/70/R13. He kept tires at 40 psi.

The rear bumper had minor damage and was repainted at the car dealership. I have a receipt for the work showing $438 for repair and paint.

It has a few scratches and parking lot dings.

There is a scuff mark on the plastic driver’s air bag cover near the top.

Always a Southwest USA car that was never smoked in.

I removed the ECU and inspected the circuit board. It looks like new. None of the nine capacitors are bulging or leaking.

The records are incomplete, but my friend changed the oil every 3k-4k miles. He always changed the oil filter when changing the oil. I removed the oil filler cap and looked inside. It is clean and no sign of sludge or discoloration.

Once warmed up, the temperature gauge is always at approximately the halfway position. I Drove it in Phoenix during the summer and the gauge is steady.

AC, passenger door mirror, and pinstripes were dealer installed.

The Civic VX did not have body side molding from the factory. It was added.

The car did not come with factory air conditioning. However, an OEM Air conditioning system installed at the Honda dealership in 1996. R134 refrigerant. He also had the AC system serviced as needed.

Has window tint and it is in good condition but does have a few scratches.

Has a Trunk Cargo Security Cover purchased after the car was delivered. Guessing he bought it from the Honda dealership as it looks OEM.

The “cloth” on the inside of the doors is starting to separate.

There is wear on the driver’s seat bolster as can be seen in the photo.

Tiny part of the driver’s side of the rear spoiler/wind deflector is chipped off.

Windshield has been replaced with an after-market unit. There is some pitting in the windshield but it was not noticeable while I was driving.

There are tiny chips on the front bumper and the front part of the hood.

Has an aftermarket hose clamp on air intake, can be seen in the photo.

The positive battery cable terminal has been replaced.

Has a one year old, 4 year free exchange AGM battery.

He towed it behind his motorhome and it has wiring for the brakelights and turn signals.

Radio antenna does not completely retract.

Passenger side mirror does not have full range of motion when using the adjustment handle.

Don’t know if the cassette deck works.

Everything works, except as noted above.

He kept it garaged. Probably why it was never stolen ;.). Comes with a light car cover that can be used while parked in the garage.

It was one of the most fuel efficient non-hybrid cars ever sold in the USA and the first to use VTEC-E. I have the original window sticker, at the time it was EPA rated 48 mpg city and 55 highway.

Have many more photos.
