Oh, come now, a Mazda6 is not THAT big a change from a sports car, even in a 4 cylinder. Now if you had gone to a Geo Metro, Civic VX, or even something like a Prius, I would agree with "big change from sports cars". To me, a Mazda6 is more like wading into the water slowly instead of diving in head first.

EDIT: Or maybe it's like going from two packs a day to using the patch...

I'll have to check more into this. Would I be best to ask inquire about this at my Chrysler dealership?

A Chrysler dealer would be the place to go, but as I said the recall was issued about 10 years ago. I'm pretty sure its expired by now.

I have to add to my list... just bought a 1995.5 Miata 1.8L M5.

I know everyone is probably wondering what kinda mileage it gets.... well, keep on wondering! It is a turbo swap project that has been abandoned by the previous 2 owners on account of not being able to figure out what's wrong w/ it.

I bought it and intend on fixing it and having some fun w/ it. Probably wont ever see much more than 20 mpg since the plan is to make 200 hp at the wheels on 10 psi.

58) 1988 GMC Suburban R2500, 454/auto, paid $1000, still have

My wife has owned a '79 Caprice, a Tempo, an Acheiva, two Luminas, an Intrepid, and currently drives a '99 Taurus.

I am currently shopping for three possible vehicles. First, a 99-02 extended cab 5.3/auto Silverado (original EPA 15-16/20-21) to replace the Taurus. Second, a 96-99 Saturn SW1 5-speed wagon for a commuter for me (original EPA 28/39). Third, an 89-91 GMC Suburban R1500 with the 350 TBI engine, 700R4 automatic, and 3.08:1 gears (anything is better than 9-11mpg) as a family hauler and tow vehicle. But economy doesn't come from buying vehicles, only when it is time to replace them, or when it saves money to change. I may be able to get the $1000 I paid for the 454 Suburban, but I likely won't be able to buy a 350 Suburban with cold air for the same money. The Silverado won't get bought until we get rid of the Taurus. The Saturn won't get bought until I get a job.

*I bought this when I was 17, it went into my parent's name. I made payments as usual, but when my Dad totaled his '86 Celebrity wagon, he had to trade in my New Yorker to buy the 1995 Century, the same one (#47) that they gave to me 8 years and 224,000 miles later. So even though I lost my car at the time and had to buy the Torino, I did get 46,000 miles of use out of that 1995 Century in a year, and traded even up for the '91 Aerostar which I put another 33,000 miles on in the next year.

**This car lasted me for quite some time and I owned a dozen other cars before I totaled it. At one point I owned this Dynasty, a Tercel, an Impala wagon, an Aerostar van, and a Diplomat, and on top of that I was using a company truck for work which I parked outside. Yes, six vehicles at age 21. My parents HATED me by that point. When I totaled it, insurance paid off all but $2000 of the balance I owed the bank. I rolled this balance into the purchase of the 1992 Dynasty (#33).

***Car #29 (Metro) and Car #33 (Dynasty) were on the same note as well as some negative equity from Car #14 (Dynasty). When I moved to Texas, I decided to cut my losses and get rid of the note and the cars. They sold at auction for almost enough to cover the note, and I started fresh with Car #37 (Cavalier)

If anyone read all that and understood half of it...have a cookie.

It would seem you've owned nothing but dull cars... a lot of them!

For someone as yourself, if you were say, my neighbor, I'd just toss you the keys to my Z28 and say, "You break it, you buy it."

I'm 100% positive it would change your life. lol

What's with all the scrapped & impounded cars? Personally I've never scrapped a car, (and I've had some old, ugly cars, but I kept them running well) and I've never had a car impounded either.

EDIT: The ones I especially like I'm highlighting in RED
