Above the Law? I wonder.

Not having to obey the law. Nowhere in my copy of The Constitution could I find it, and I didn't notice in the California State Constitution anything about it.

Don't we all have the same responsibility to obey the law?
Are some people exempt?

Why do California Highway Patrol Officers wear their seat belts and most local police, animal control officers, fire-truck drivers and Sheriffs Deputies not use their seat belt?

Should we call 911 and report them?

That's an incredible claim. Anyone in a high risk occupation like those would be stupid not to wear a seat belt. What is your support for your claim that "most local police, animal control officers, fire-truck drivers and Sheriffs Deputies" do not wear their seat belts? Have you actually counted ten of each group, and observed five or more not wearing seat belts? Or do I have to call b.s. on you?

Hmmm....I'll have to start looking at the Sheriff's deputies to see what they are doing...

I used to rent a house from a couple of cops from a town near Pomona, Calif. I remember more than once they'd stop by, open beers in their pickup truck...

I can tell you that in the Virginia EVOC course, if the driver does not fasten their seatbelt, and make sure everyone else in the vehicle is properly buckled, its an automatic fail.

As the 2nd Lt in my squad I was responsible for fleet maintenance, and for overseeing the training of new drivers. If I ever caught anyone not wearing seat belts they were off the truck.

not sure about seat belts, but i can attest to the abuse of the speed limit(non-emergency) and driving while operating a lap top computer by local cops.
