Proud Uncle Shatto

A while back, I told of attending the graduation of my Ethiopian niece from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.

When I learned that this young lady graduated at the top of her class with Batchelors AND Masters Degrees. At age 23. Just like her sister.
All I could respond was....er, I attended college....,

Adey, Proud Uncle, Mesgana.

Proud Father and Uncle.

40 years ago in Ethiopia, when we were active, strong and verile.

and thin.

RE: Last photo... My dad was in Ethiopia around that time. He was in the US Army Signal Corps, at Kagnew Station.

Asmara, now the capital of the country of Eritrea, is one of the places on the planet where all the radio waves like to merge. It's better than picking up KGO from San Francisco, on the skip, in Kansas City
The U. S. government discovered this, and Kagnew was in operation before the Second World War began.
Even with space communication, these land sites are still very useful, I understand.
I presume you were a twinkle when your dad was there?

Yeah, something like that. Dad said at certain times of the day he could listen to WOR and WNBC from New York...
