I had a new set installed on my HCH last week. The originals were Dunlop SP20FE and had sidewall max pressure since new, and they lasted to 88,000 miles wore down to the top of the wear bars. They wore evenly across.

I had really good luck with them so I replaced with the same model which I ran up to sidewall cold max pressure.

I'd definetly have to say that soft, new rubber delivers less MPG than hard, old tires, but in my case the drop isn't very significant and is pretty manageable.
So far it's a difference of parking with 65MPG vs 68.
A small drop for sure but I feel a bit better with a percieved improved margin of safety.

I bought a set of 2 used tires and wheels for my camry last year for 75$. the tires have loads of tread left, should last another 6 years, though I think they are slightly off balance, as indicated by a slight wobble above 65. I usually drive 55 so that is ok by me. Eventually I will have 4 tires with just a little tread, which is optimal for fe (I think?). In the winter I use 2 winter snows on the front wheels. The FE seems to be unchanged with the junkyard tires.
