Oops! I've been sucking gas fumes again.
_I just got back from filling up and have some fairly decent numbers. I went 655.6725 miles(darned oversize tires!) and used 11.515 gallons for 56.94 mpg. SG was reporting 62.7. I reached the two goals I was shooting for though: 650+ miles and 55+mpg.

Basjoos country has been very wet of late. A 78 mile drive through heavy rain dropped my latest tank down to 66mpg.

328.9mile @ 8.964gal= 36.7

I also did a highway test to college. I got 36mpg. So It pays to go on the thru town route to school were I get around 40mpg.

First VX tank results

I just posted up my first tank for the VX in my gaslog. I am blaming a TERRIBLE tank on the bad gas that sat in there for 1 1/2 years. Even if I can get this thing running right and all back to how it should work that tank will keep me way down the list for 90 days.

This thing is turning into quite a pain in my ***.

I'm struggling with my Passat. It has been very consistent in getting ~32 mpg tanks (I know, it's not in the 70s like a Blackfly ). I've even gotten excursions as high as 39+ mpg for an hours drive. Lately, I've been unable to maintain that mileage and yesterday I got only ~27 driving home. This morning I could barely get ~28.5.

It was raining both times (though that usually doesn't make that big of a diff.) Tire pressures are up there. The engine seems to be running smoothly and up to proper temperature. Possibilities may be the gas, or the coil pack (a chronic arcing problem with the VR6 engine). It has new ignition wires. I'll have to 'mist' it while it's running.

Sure it's not just a combination of the rain & cooler temps? Dan reported his FE dropping on the VX with falling temps as well.

I actually do better in the winter, though I think most of that is from my snow tires. They're 2 sizes narrower than OEM (same diameter) and are harder so I think I gain a few mpg there. I'll have to check for arcing.

Personal best fill-up: 80.1 mpg (US) over 359 miles.

happyhappyhappy.

The scenery looks great in Basjoos country. Too bad I'm just visiting, and not moving in.

The experiment is working. *insert evil mad scientist laugh* Todays numbers so far are 62.0 for the trip to the wife's work, 70.5 from there to my work, 62.7 back to pick up the wife this afternoon, and 62.6 back to home.
