New tank record for me over

New tank record for me over 36.0 MPG. Not as impressive as the big number folks are throwing around but it's still an upward trend. Been working on driving technique. That's were I've seen most of the gain. Metro those number are great, keep after it.

I would say your numbers are GREAT!

Looking at it from a percentage increase above EPA point of view, you are 39.6% above EPA. That's exceptional!

I'm struggling to reach 22.9% above EPA. Still have a few tricks up my sleeve.

Personal Best in Mixed Driving

Well folks, I know it doesn't sound like much, but I've been able to achieve a little over 36 mpg from the last tank.

In the 7-months I've been around here, the tips and mods have really paid off. My baseline was 26 mpg when I started, so I officially improved mileage by 10, which is the cause for celebration. Now, only if I can get to 40...

Thanks to everyone who helped along the way, and to Matt for creating an addictive forum to discuss FE. I look forward to more discoveries...

-Rick :-D

Man, 36, I hope this tank turns out to be above 40 or I'll be getting scared,

I guess when I hook up the MID tonight my mileage will go for a rise.

ScanGauge Helped

When I got the ScanGauge, I finally was able to see what the car wanted exactly in the way of driving style vs. mileage. What I thought was efficient turned out to be not-so-good, so I was able to adapt. Biggest thing was coasting -- engine on or off. I thought that it would take more energy to idle the engine and coast, but it's a balancing act of the slowing of compression, free-wheeling neutral, or engine cut if the engine wont be needed for about 30-45 seconds or more. There's plenty of brake vacuum for a decent stop, and steering isn't a big deal. Plus, driving 55 on the highway has helped as well (kinda dangerous, but good). B - you're going to love the SuperMID.

MID is being grr because of

MID is being grr because of my VSS, I think.

Anyway, 39.4 today.

Tomorrow is a road trip to pick up my new engine and dan's new tranny (but I'll steal the vss off it for myself, mwahahah).
